CLINTON — The county’s auditor Julie Floyd appeared at the DeWitt County Board meeting Thursday to answer questions about the state of the county’s finances. Her visit was prompted by the recent withholding by Peoria Disposal Company (PDC) of its first host fee payment of 2014 to the county.
At the February 6 county board meeting, board chairman Sherrie Brown said the county had never spent more than $12 million in a fiscal year, in spite of budgeting around $20 million annually. For this reason, she said the loss of about $1 million a year in hosting fees paid to the county by PDC, the parent company of Clinton Landfill, Inc., was not necessarily cause for concern.For the complete article see the 02-14-2014 issue.
